1. Begin by removing the old lockset. This will typically involve removing the screws that hold the latch plate and strike plate in place. Once the screws are removed, you should be able to pull the old lockset out of the door.
2. Measure the distance between the center of the hole in the door where the latch plate will go and the edge of the door. This will help you determine the size of the latch plate that you need.
3. Use a chisel to cut a hole in the door for the latch plate. The hole should be slightly larger than the latch plate itself, as you will need to be able to adjust the position of the plate to ensure that it is level.
4. Place the latch plate in the hole and mark the location of the screw holes with a pencil.
5. Remove the latch plate and use a chisel to widen the screw holes slightly. This will make it easier to attach the plate to the door.
6. Place the latch plate back in the hole and attach it to the door using the screws provided.
7. Measure the distance between the center of the hole in the door where the strike plate will go and the edge of the door. This will help you determine the size of the strike plate that you need.
8. Use a chisel to cut a hole in the doorjamb for the strike plate. The hole should be slightly larger than the strike plate itself, as you will need to be able to adjust the position of the plate to ensure that it is level.
9. Place the strike plate in the hole and mark the location of the screw holes with a pencil.

12. Install the tubular lockset according to the manufacturer's instructions. This will typically involve attaching the lockset to the door with screws and attaching the lock cylinder to the latch assembly.
13.Test the lockset to ensure that it is functioning properly. If the lockset is not working as expected, you may need to make adjustments to the latch or strike plate to ensure that they are properly aligned.
Installing a tubular lockset is a relatively straightforward process, but it is important to pay attention to detail and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully to ensure that the lockset is installed correctly and safely. With the right tools and a bit of patience, you should be able to install a tubular lockset on your own with minimal difficulty.
